A Good Day

Monday was a good day.

Owen had his ninth chemo treatment and Joey joined us for his first time on our visit to CHOP. As usual Owen did beautifully, it is amazing all that he goes through and how unfazed he seems. I was a little concerned about how Joey would handle everything. Joey had a few questions during Owen's port access and when we went into the Day Hospital where Owen is hooked up to the IV and gets his medicine. He listened to the doctors and nurses answers and was great with Owen, playing with him and making him giggle. The oncology unit was having a carnival fundraiser for leukemia, so Joey was thrilled that one of the volunteers(Kathy this lovely woman that is always there on Mondays and who's face lights up when she sees Owen) took him to get his face painted. After our visit to CHOP, which Joey deemed AWESOME, we went to the Philadelphia Zoo for the afternoon. Joey lead us from exhibit to exhibit, needing to be persuaded to even stop for lunch. Both boys loved the sea lions and the gibbons.

Nine treatments down...hopefully just one to go...

Out of the Box Decision

I am not a writer. I teach my students to write, but share with them that often I have to force my ideas down on paper. I love to scrapbook, but I have pages of beautiful pictures with incomplete journaling. So here I am with this decision I have made, this out-of-the-box decision, I AM GOING TO BLOG. I am sure at first it will rest on my shoulders, another nagging thing to accomplish on my daily list of "to dos" but I finally feel compelled to start. I say finally because so many of my friends blog and it is one of those things I thought I probably should do...but never, ever, thought I would. Overwhelmed by all the support from family and friends, especially since starting fundraising for my NF race, I thought this would be a wonderful way to share Owen's progress and keep everyone updated. It is a way for me to say thank you and express my gratitude for all the thoughts, prayers, calls, donations and support all of you have given us. Hoping this was a good decision...
